3 Lesser Known Condition Covered Under Workers' Compensation

Workers' compensation insurance is designed to help cover the costs associated with suffering from a workplace injury. However, it can be difficult to understand what type of injury is and is not covered. Here are some lesser-known conditions that are important to know about when it comes to being covered for a workplace-related injury.

Repetitive Motion Injuries

All injuries do not have to be directly related to a sudden accident that can cause an injury. In fact, some injuries happen slowly over time and can cause damage that lasts a lifetime. This is more common when it comes to repetitive motion injuries from doing the same tasks over and over again in the workplace.

Even something as simple as working at a computer all day for years can cause repetitive motion injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. It can result in medical and physical therapy bills that would normally come out of your pocket to treat your condition and to purchase durable medical goods to help with discomfort that you are experiencing.

Strain Injuries

The same desk job can also result in strain injuries based on the environment that you are working in every single day. It is important to have a comfortable office chair that has you sitting at the correct height with good posture, and the ability to raise a computer monitor to the proper height so that you are not straining your neck. It is not surprising, but having to crank your neck to the side to look at a monitor that is off-angle can result in discomfort that can require you to see a chiropractor and deal with neck straining issues.

Stress Injuries

Not all injuries have physical symptoms that are easy to diagnose. It is possible that you can suffer from a stress-related injury due to an incident that happened in the workplace. This is more common in instances with retail employees where there was a robbery while they were on the job. The stress of having to deal with that can make it difficult to go back into work, result in having to attend therapy to deal with negative emotions and lost wages due to anxiety that left you in a state where you couldn't return to work right away.
